NBSC Plays Prominent Role at BIMP-EAGA International Conference
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) showcased its growing academic prowess with a significant and multifaceted delegation at the BIMP-EAGA International Research Conference and Training, held from August 26 to 28, 2025, in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. The college was represented by top administrators, division directors, and faculty members who took on key leadership roles and presented a diverse range of scholarly work.
The international conference, themed “Strengthening BIMP-EAGA Foundation on Resiliency, Inclusivity, Sustainability, and Economic Competitiveness”, serves as a vital platform for academics and practitioners. Sponsored by the Philippine EAGA Higher Education Institutions Consortium (PEHEIC), the event aims to foster academic collaboration and address key challenges and opportunities within the East ASEAN Growth Area.
The NBSC delegation played a prominent role in the conference’s organization and academic oversight. Dr. Jovelyn G. Delosa, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Mary Koren Witting-Acuesa, Director of the Research, Development, and Innovation Division (RDID), served as esteemed adjudicators, helping to uphold the event’s scholarly standards. Adding to the college’s leadership presence was Mr. Alven L. Gomez, Director of the Community Extension Services Division (CESD), who attended in his capacity as the Secretary for PEHEIC.
Five members of the NBSC teaching and non-teaching personnel presented their peer-reviewed papers, showcasing the depth and breadth of the college’s research initiatives:
- Ms. Leah Mae S. Cuyno, who was also hailed as a Best Presenter, shared her work on “Systemic Constraints in Northern Mindanao’s Food Value Chain: A Multi-Stakeholder Perspective.”
- Mr. Julius S. Gabinete contributed to peace studies with his paper, “Peace Research Initiative: Assessing Public Satisfaction with the Services of the 52nd Engineer Brigade of the Philippine Army in Eastern Mindanao.”
- Mr. Melven I. Valmoria discussed a strategic framework for “Advancing Agri-Food Systems through the Metropolitan Food and Agri-Based Products Cluster.”
- Dr. Daniel S. Lerongan, Head of the Quality Assurance Office, presented on “Assessing the Readiness of a New State College in Southern Philippines for Accreditation: A Roadmap to Institutional Excellence.”
- Mr. Niño T. Baran presented on process innovation with his paper, “KAIZEN: Improving Student Processes: A JEDI’S (Joint Efforts in Developing Innovation) GUIDE.”
